  • Standard Approach to Surgical Treatment of Facial Abscesses (60 min.)

    This lecture focuses entirely on the standard surgical treatment of periapical infections and odontogenic abscesses. It includes:

    - the clinical presentation;

    - clinical and pathophysiologic considerations;

    - a practical session with videos of the step-by-step procdedure;

    - the postoperative management of the patient;

    - follow-up and complications

  • Surgical Treatment of Mandibular Abscesses (64 min.)

    This advanced lecture goes further than the previous lecture, focusing on the surgical techniques for treatment of specific mandibular abscesses. It includes:

    - the topographic anatomy of the mandible;

    - the abscesses of the incisive portion of the mandible;

    - the abscesses of the body of the mandible;

    - the retromasseteric abscesses involving the mandibular fossa.

  • Surgical Treatment of Maxillary Abscesses (122 min.)

    This advanced and extensive lecture focuses on surgical techniques for treatment of specific maxillary abscesses and empyemas, including:

    - the topographic anatomy of the maxilla;

    - the abscesses of maxillary incisor teeth;

    - the bacterial dacryocistitis and abscesses of the nasolacrimal duct;

    - the abscesses of maxillary cheek teeth 1 and 2;

    - the empyema of the alveolar bulla;

    - the retrobulbar abscesses (including clinical presentation, overview of diagnostic imaging, the intraoral treatment, and a practical session with videos of the step-by-step extraoral approaches and procedures);

    - the parabulbar abscesses (infraorbital, retro-orbital);

    A specific section will also be dedicated to:

    - combined mandibular and maxillary abscesses;

    - non-periapical odontogenic abscesses;

    - non-odontogenic facial abscesses
